Prolific auteur Hong Sangsoo is getting ready to shoot his 17th (as yet untitled) film this month after fixing his leading cast. Previous collaborators Jung Jae-young (Our Sunhi, 2013) and Yu Jun-sang (The Day He Arrives, 2011) will be joined by Hong first timers Kim Min-hee (Helpless, 2012) and Ko Ah-sung (Snowpiercer).
No details on plot have been revealed for now but given who this is, we should expect another delightful concoction of awkward connections and small talk among Seoul's professors and artists. What we do know is that the film will go into production in mid-January and should be finished in 2-3 weeks, meaning it will likely be ready in time for a Cannes submission.
It's shaping up to be a big year for Kim Min-hee, who will also be shooting Park Chan-wook's Fingersmith with Ha Jung-woo at some point in the first half of 2015. Hong's most recent work Hill of Freedom is currently on the festival circuit following its debut last year at the Locarno International Flim Festival.
